The title of TechnoBard was developed back in 1978 by myself during a game of AD&D.
My character was a person who traversed the dimensional rift from Star
Frontiers to the world of Greyhawk. Being that he had
knowledge of technology and ways of recording history I coined the title and
documented it. Techno was not even a dance style or remotely used sci-fi phrase
or analogy if you will.
As a trained Bardagh, I saw this as the beginning for all TechnoBards (or
Techno-Bards if you will). The next step forward, as like all things that
evolve. This should help conclude any future quandaries of the TechnoBard
origins.
The television series Babylon 5 introduced the Techno-mages
and these continued in Crusade.
Although the Techno-mages resemble the ideals of the TechnoBards, their
knowledge is that which imitates magic - Techno-mancy.
I will admit that I have become a fan of the series and was sad to see that it
was ended because of bad decisions. [BTW- any images used
